Email this article to a friend...Jenny van Papendorp: the 3rd most active curriculum website manager

Instead of surveying the 10 most popular sites we have decided to provide you with some background information on the ten most active Curriculum website managers for 2008 based on their logins.

Here we talk to Jenny van Papendorp, manager of the FET Dance website, which received 26 497 hits during this period.

You have dedicated many hours to managing your website. Why?

More and more teachers are accessing the site throughout the whole country. Since there are no Dance Studies advisors in other provinces, it is the one convenient way to share information and make documents available to all dance teachers in South Africa. I am also receiving responses and queries from parents and learners. The exam bank has especially been a hit as teachers are struggling to set exam papers with differentiation.

What are your plans for your website in the coming 12 months?

I need to spend some time on getting the Dramatic Arts website up and running. I still have a lot of materials to place on the Dance Studies websites and teachers have been great about sending in questions for the exam bank but what with Matric exam practicals at present I haven’t had time to put them up.

What are you currently reading?

How to best support and retrain teachers – readings from various journals received from Edulis and a few good novels

What was your favourite film the past 12 months?

Mama Mia – I think it’s the only movie I saw but I laughed a lot.

People of your calibre are often driven, highly creative and/or have some secret formula for their success. What drives you and ,if you have a formula or just some home-spun advice, please would you share it with us?

I am driven by the learners, especially when I visit the schools and I get to know them as individual human beings. My heart goes out to them especially the ones who are in difficult social situations or in schools that are not functioning as they should. I am also just a very energetic person and as an (ex-)dancer I need to do something positive with all this energy. I also love a challenge and oh boy, does this website challenge me!

Other than managing your website, what else do you do for fun?

Tango, dogs.
