Jerome Gordon: the 5th most active curriculum website manager
Instead of surveying the 10 most popular sites we have decided to provide you with some background information on the ten most active Curriculum website managers for 2008 based on their logins. Here we talk to Jerome Gordon, manager of the GET Economic & Management Sciences website, that received 24 038 hits during this period.
You have dedicated many hours to managing your website. Why?
I have notice that more people are visiting our websites in search of information to assist with curriculum implementation. The website gives us a platform to start conversations around best practices and challenges with curriculum implementation.
What are your plans for your website in the coming 12 months?
Putting on work schedules and lesson plans for Intermediate Phase. I would like our community to engage critically on these and other documents, to sharpen and shape it to the real needs in our classrooms.
What are you currently reading?
Mostly educational journals. I am busy with an article by Razia Fakir Mohammed and Brian Harlech-Jones, Aga Khan University, Pakistan. The article is about shortcomings related to implementation of new approaches for teaching and learning. We face similar challenges in South Africa. Volume 38 Number 1 January 2008: Compare: A journal of comparative education.
What was your favourite film the past 12 months?
The Bucket list
People of your calibre are often driven, highly creative and/or have some secret formula for their success. What drives you and ,if you have a formula or just some home-spun advice, please would you share it with us?
I do not have any formula as such. We have a huge responsibility towards our learners and teachers out in the field. NCS (National Curriculum Statement) failure is not an option. I do not mind getting my hands dirty to do what is in the best interest of our learners and the community at large.
Other than managing your website, what else do you do for fun?
Started with gardening but I must admit walking the greens and playing bad golf is much more fun.
