Learning Outcome 2: e-Communications

The learner is able to apply creative uses of different computer technologies to facilitate electronic communication.

 

10.2.1

describes the role of an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in facilitating communication.

Connection to internet:

Types of connection – telephone, ISDN, ADSL, wireless, satellite, modem, dial-up, leased line

Choice of ISP

Hosts websites, e-mail, help desk, messaging, Virus scanning, spam control etc.

Setup, access

10.2.2

makes efficient use of e-mail (including attachments, digital signatures, address books) as a means of communication.

E.g. setup and add to address book, delete, send, reply, forward email, add attachment, retrieve e-mail, rules, netiquette, use of mailing lists, set up web-based e-mail account, confirmation of delivery and receipt

demonstrates responsible communication styles.

Such as netiquette, spam, size of attachments

navigates the Internet in order to retrieve information.

understanding a URL, fill in address box, follow links, navigation, refresh, history, bookmarks, different browsers.
