Assessment should be an integral part of the teaching and learning process, and should not be considered as something additional. Assessment tasks should be prepared in conjunction with the syllabus requirements and informed by the Critical Outcomes.

Assessment provides the Accounting educator with a means of determining the learners' understanding of the subject, whether there has been progress, and diagnosing problems to improve future performance. It is a systematic gathering of information about what learners know and are able to do.
