The Western Cape Education Department  (WCED) is committed to quality education for all learners.  Teachers, parents and caregivers all play an important role in supporting learners to achieve this goal.

Homework forms part of teaching and learning and in support of this the WCED published Homework Guidelines in August 2005.   Homework requires careful planning and support from principals, teachers, parents and learners. Efficient management of homework, accompanied by careful planning, guidance and control by all the parties involved, will ensure that it does not become a burden.

The WCED has produces a pamphlet giving parents guidance on how to support their children with their homework.  The pamphlet is available in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa on the Resource Pages of the Barriers to Learning Website.
