WELCOME to the world of Typing in schools.

Through this site the WCED will endeavour to keep educators, learners and parents up to date with the latest developments in Typing. We hope to use this as a means of communication, where the different stakeholders will share ideas

TYPING is a subject that has been offered by many learners over the years. It is true that typewriters are very rarely used today and has largely been replaced by computers. However, due to financial constraints, many schools have not been able to replace the typing rooms and typewriters with computer laboratories, the necessary hardware and software. For these schools the skill of keyboard mastery and word processing can still been taught via typewriters.

Typing is a subject that empowers learners with valuable skills, which everyone needs at some stage of their lives. Learners at the end of Grade 12, who has mastered Typing with the required speed and accuracy, can enter the world of work. For many learners who for various reasons are not able to continue their studies after Grade 12, this is extremely useful.

We trust that you will find this a useful site to visit. If you have any interesting ideas please forward them to gschreuder@pgwc.gov.za
